Title: Trust Management in Online Social Networks

Abstract:

Online Social Networks (OSNs) such as Facebook (facebook.com), Twitter (twitter.com) and Linkedin (linkedin.com) have already gained popularity and attracted lots of participants. In recent years, social networking sites have been used as a means for a rich variety of activities, such as movie recommendations and product recommendations. In addition, they have even been used by employers to investigate potential employees. In these activities, trust is one of the most important factors for participants’ decision-making. However, in OSNs, most participants are unknown with each other. Therefore, it is necessary and significant to evaluate the trust between two participants who have no direct interaction. At this tutorial, Dr. Guanfeng Liu will first introduce a global picture of the studies of trust management in online social networks, and then introduce complex trust-oriented social network structure, and a set of solutions in solving the trust network extraction and trust path selection problems.
